Our Teaching Method
At SLC students are encouraged to speak in the second language using role plays, oral presentations, verbal exchanges in the form of debates and problem solving activities in real-life situations. Our method is designed to favour the active and continuous participation of the students. We make sure that students feel comfortable, confident and involved in the learning process.
Program management
The teacher produces a weekly report on the progress of each student. Each student must pass an oral and written test. Prior to the beginning of the classes, a meeting is scheduled with the company’s representative to help determine the specific needs of the students, as well as the company’s precise objectives.
What is made-to-measure language instruction?
Made-to-measure language instruction simply means that lessons are designed to enable students to learn at their own pace. Lessons are not prepared in advance and recycled from student to student. Following a thorough evaluation of the students’ language skills, we create a program that will best suit their needs.
Promoting an interactive teaching method we believe it is imperative that students collaborate in the process and help us design the best program possible.
Emploi-Québec
We are certified by emploi-Québec (Bill 90) and so far, we have helped hundreds of companies benefit from this program.
One on one E-Learning
Grammar and conversation
Our program consists of creative classroom activities based on real-life situations combined with grammatical reinforcement. The practical and creative activities helps students use the structures learned and gives them confidence to speak in the new language. Lessons are structured so that you will first acquire the new vocabulary and grammatical structures through examples and practice in structured exercises. Then you practice the new concepts in group or pair activities which are patterned after real communicative situations. The instructors coordinate lessons in such a way that you are encouraged to actively participate.
Business language
Working in collaboration with the Provincial government, we have developed a comprehensive lexical data-base for hotel managers, doormen, bartenders, chambermaids, receptionists, fashion salespersons, human resource representatives, accountants, physicians, general managers and various administrative office workers, each with their own specific verbs, expressions and technical words.
