It is important to understand that in the language learning industry, you do not buy a language course, you invest in a language proficiency and the development of skills… Groupe SLC will adapt its programmes to suit your needs… Our competitors expect you to adapt to them… The big difference?? Our programs are based on RESULTS!!

Myths no 1: Private courses are more expensive that group courses…

In fact, private courses turn out to be more economical and cheaper than group courses if you consider how effective they are; studies have shown that private courses are up to 6 times more effective and profitable because 100% of the teaching time is concentrated on the one student. During the lessons, we make sure you understand all concepts perfectly, we correct all your mistakes and we give you the tools to improve; we answer all your questions and we propose different conversation topics according to your needs. We teach you grammar, vocabulary, syntax, structures and business communication. Each class is conducted at your own pace and according to your own needs.

Myth no 2: You can learn from interacting with other students in a group…

In fact, group courses are actually counter-productive if you consider that other students in a group are NOT teachers, they are students… We have all heard the following ” Some people learn better in groups because they can learn and teach others while getting taught themselves”. That is completely untrue!! Only the teacher can correct your mistakes, give you valuable advice and help you get back on track when you make a mistake.

Myth no 3: Private courses are only available to companies…

Private courses are opened to all who want the best course available!! Our 60 instructors will meet you at your office or your home and provide you with the same highly effective and profitable courses offered to corporations.

Learn on the phone

Designed for people on the go, lessons over the phone are convenient and very effective. A meeting is set with a qualified trainer and, using the internet, students can communicate orally as well as by writing e-mails. Frequent flyers really enjoy this type of language instruction when they are waiting for a flight or at the end of the day when they have time to spare at the hotel.

Long gone are the days when students had to waste time looking for a parking space only to join a large group of students who have different needs and different expectations.

Presentations and speeches

If you are looking to polish your image and deliver a speech of impeccable quality, this is the program for you. We have helped dozens of human resource representatives and business managers with their speeches and business presentations. You can either write the text yourself or work in collaboration with one of our qualified language trainers.

Interviews

Groupe SLC has developed a 100 questions written exam designed specifically to assist HR representatives to assess their applicant’s language skills.

Test for employees

Have your employees ever been tested to know their true language skills?

We often take for granted that just because they seem to speak well that they actually do.

We offer a free evaluation of your employees’ language skills and hand you a complete report to help you make the best decision possible. You can choose small homogenous groups or private lessons.

This program is intended for children between 6 to 17 year old.

SLC has worked on many occasions with children who have problems adapting to a new school simply because they lack certain language skills which translates into difficulties in meeting the requirement of the curriculum.

We have developed an after-school math and reading program that employs a unique learning method designed to help each child develop the skills needed to perform to his or her full potential.

Often children who have difficulties with school work see their lives dramatically changed by a simple tutoring program. As they acquire new skills, they suddenly feel more confident and participate more actively in class activities.

Children have special needs; at SLC we are sensitive to these needs. Working in collaboration with parents, teachers and caretakers, we create a dynamic and comfortable teaching environment conducive to positive results.

Whether your child is a new immigrant, has enrolled in a new school or needs to attend a second-language immersion program, SLC has the program to help your child find a new love for learning.

Our teaching method

At SLC students are encouraged to speak languages by means of role play, oral presentations, verbal exchanges in the form of problem solving activities in real-life situations. Our method is designed to favour the active and continuous participation of the students. We make sure that students feel comfortable, confident and involved in the learning process.

Results that speak for themselves

Schools must cover material according to age or grade, and classes must advance as a group. Needless to say, not all children grasp all concepts at the same pace. SLC allows the individual needs and abilities of each child to govern his or her own progress. That’s why SLC students can perform at 100% of their potential.

Tip no 1: The best way to learn a new language

When trying to learn a new language, people tend to learn a language by comparing it to their native language – learning about similarities and differences. They often want to know why something is said a certain way in the new language, and tend to be frustrated by the usual response “that’s just the way it is.” At Groupe SLC inc, we teach you what concepts mean and allow you to interpret them in a perfectly logical and easy way. We have developed a simple formula to help you learn all conjugations of all verbs in the present tense in less than 10 minutes.

Imagine the power you get just with that simple rule!!

You must find an interest in a new language if you want to succeed. Whatever the reason, – travel, work, interest, friends- the more you invest, time and money, the more you get out of it. The bottom line is that it is not impossible for anyone to learn French, no matter what their age. I’ve received emails from adults of all ages who are learning French – including a woman of 78. It’s never too late!

Your personal tutor is an invaluable resource of knowledge and experience so ask them questions, they are always there for you

Here are some guidelines that can help you learn French as an adult.

Tip no 2: What and How to Learn

1. Start learning what you actually want and need to know

Here are some of the most popular reasons for wanting to learn French:

travel

business

personal relationships

230 million French speaker worldwide

art and culture

music and cinema.

2. Learn the basics and work with a tutor

Grammar, vocabulary, conversation and Q&A represent the best way to learn. Always study more vocabulary with the help of an online dictionary and newspapers. DON’T cut corners and be patient, it’s well worth the effort.

3. Repetition is key

Unless you have a photographic memory, you’re going to need to learn and practice concepts many times before you know them well enough to feel confident speaking. You must repeat exercises, answer the questions posed by the tutor, listen to your tutor’s advice and review each lesson and study the vocabulary.

4. Don’t do it alone

Many people have tried it and most have failed… An experienced tutor is not just a provider of pedagogical material but mostly a GUIDE, a person that speed up your ability to learn by a factor of 10…

Daily learning

How much can you really learn in an hour a week? Make a habit of spending at least 60 to 120 minutes a day learning and/or practicing.

Above and beyond

Remember that language and culture go hand in hand. Learning French is more than just verbs and vocabulary; it’s also about the French people and their art, music… – not to mention the cultures of other francophone countries around the world.

Why learn a foreign language?

Communication

An obvious reason to learn a new language is to be able to communicate with the people who speak it. This includes both the people you meet when traveling as well as people in your own community. Your trip to another country will be greatly enhanced in both ease of communication and friendliness if you speak the language. Speaking another’s language shows respect for that culture, and people in every country prefer it when tourists make an effort to speak the local language, even if all you can say in it is “hello” and “please.” In addition, learning another language can also help you to communicate with local immigrant populations at home.

Cultural understanding

Speaking a new language helps you to get to know another people and culture, as language and culture go hand in hand. Because language simultaneously defines and is defined by the world around us, learning another language opens one’s mind to new ideas and new ways of looking at the world.

Learning another language can help you to understand your own. Many languages have contributed to the development of English, so learning those will teach you where words and even grammatical structures are from, and augment your vocabulary to boot. Also, in learning how another language differs from your own, you will increase your understanding of your own language. For many people, language is innate – we know how to say something, but we don’t necessarily know why we say it that way. Learning another language can change that.

Increased access: Instructors of the highest calibre can share their knowledge across borders, allowing students to attend courses across physical, political, and economic boundaries. Recognized experts have the opportunity of making information available internationally, to anyone interested at minimum costs. Our program has made substantial portions of the curriculum and lectures available online.

Convenience and flexibility to learners: in many contexts, eLearning is self-paced and the learning sessions are available 24×7. Learners are not bound to a specific day/time to physically attend classes. They can also pause learning sessions at their convenience. High technology is not necessary for all online courses. Basic internet access, audio, and video capabilities are common requirements.Depending on the technology used, students can begin their courses while at work and finish those at an alternate internet equipped location.

Skill Development: To develop the skills and competencies needed in today’s market in particular to ensure that learners have the digital literacy skills required in their discipline, profession or career.

You can’t learn French overnight, and you probably can’t learn on your own, no matter how many books and tapes you buy. What you can do is use this our program is to supplement your learning: to get another explanation of something you didn’t understand, to get extra practice between classes, and to brush up on what you once learned but have now all but forgotten. Remember that a private coach os the absolute BEST way to learn…
